Veselské pískovny

Sandy beaches and sparkling water. A visit to Veselské pískovny can easily remind you of a vacation by the sea. Five separate lakes created after gravel extraction now offer space for relaxation, swimming, sports, and cultural programs.

Borkovická blata

The Borkovická blata Nature Reserve is the northernmost peat bog in the Třeboň Basin. It is a protected area near the village of Borkovice u Veselí nad Lužnicí. The nature reserve features specific peat bog vegetation, including bog pine and sedge-dry grass wetlands.

The most significant architectural monuments include the Renaissance houses on the square. The town hall from 1579, partially renovated in the Baroque style
before 1763, and the “Weis House” museum with its graffiti are the dominant features of the northern side of T. G. Masaryk Square.

Also worth seeing is house no. 22 on the west side of the square with three Renaissance gables. The church in Veselí has Gothic origins and was modified
during the Renaissance. It is named after the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and is located on a hill 429 meters above sea level. Another important monument is the Art Nouveau Sokol Hall from 1905, which is currently undergoing reconstruction.

The Blatské Museum in Veselí nad Lužnicí is part of the Hussite Museum
in Tábor. A permanent exhibition is installed in the Weis House in Veselí.
The museum’s treasures include art-historical collections from the 16th to 19th centuries.

Greenway selského baroka

On this 36-kilometer route, marked with yellow bicycle signs in the form of decorative shields depicting local rural buildings, you can get to know the local landscape and its history, nature, culture, and traditions. The circuit runs mainly on flat terrain, along district asphalt roads.

The starting point is Veselí nad Lužnicí, and the route passes through the village conservation areas of Mažice, Zálší, Klečaty, Komárov, and the village conservation zones of Svinky and Borkovice, which have best preserved their original character and where the owners of most of the farmsteads maintain their buildings in their original form.

 

The Castle at Hluboká nad Vltavou, ZOO Ohrada a Lovecký zámek

Hluboká Castle is an ideal destination for history lovers and incurable romantics. The Ohrada Zoo and Hunting Lodge are located about one kilometer from Hluboká nad Vltavou.

The hunting lodge was built in 1842 for the Schwarzenberg family and was intended to be used for hunting celebrations and hunts.

It stands near Munický Pond, which is home to various species of waterfowl.

The Castle at Červená Lhota

This Renaissance castle is well known for its red color and location in the middle of the Castle Pond. It is situated on a rock surrounded by water and connected to the shore by a stone bridge.

Červená Lhota holds the record for the number of fairy tales and films shot here, such as Goldilocks, The Lost Princess, Beauty and Happiness, and The Princess and the Pea.

The Castle Třeboň

Třeboň of the Rožmberk family, Třeboň of the Schwarzenberg family, Třeboň the spa town, Třeboň the charming town, peaceful yet bustling with life.

The town is dominated by a Renaissance chateau surrounded by a large English park, built below the dam of the Svět pond, where the weapons of knights and cavaliers still clang in the courtyards, but also the music accompanying the light steps of dancers.
